The Grade 0 year is a unique year, as it provides the necessary stepping stones and preparation for successful Junior School years. Throughout the Grade 0 year, we provide an informal, happy environment, where girls are encouraged to explore, discover, and challenge themselves through play and structured activities, thereby developing and obtaining readiness for their first formal year of learning in Grade 1, as well as developing positive attitudes towards learning.
Grade 0 provides an engaging space in which girls can develop both their known talents and discover some hidden ones. They build sound foundations that will enable them to thrive and reach their full potential. The focus in the early learning years is related to the three content areas, namely Languages, Mathematics and Life Skills.
Our Grade 0 classes are vibrant centres of learning. Our highly qualified teachers and full-time teaching assistants ensure that our Grade 0 girls are offered stimulating opportunities to learn and grow.
The spacious classrooms provide for co-operative learning, which is a successful teaching strategy in which small teams, each with students of different levels of ability, use a variety of learning activities to improve their understanding of a subject. The Grade 0 playground is a secure, separate area with exciting and fun equipment. This area is designed to encourage creative, social, emotional and physical development whilst having FUN.
Our extra murals, designed specifically for Grade 0, include the Science Club, and Fun and Games. These activities provide another opportunity to develop social interaction skills, an important aspect of growth and development in a different environment.
We provide an aftercare facility for working parents where girls enjoy daily lunch, and are supervised during play and assisted with homework. Whole-girl development is important to us, and we believe that we provide the space and the opportunity for our girls to enjoy a happy, productive, and successful day at school.
