PRESCHOOL TEACHER – CHILDREN 4 to 5 YEARS OF AGE – May 2021

St Andrew’s Preschool for girls and boys, situated in Johannesburg, is an independent Preschool with a proud 17-year-old history of providing early childhood education to children from 3 months to 5 years of age. Each learning opportunity is filled with a sprinkle of magic, a pinch of adventure, a cup of laughter and a handful of love.

Building a strong culture of diversity is one of our main requirements at St Andrew’s Preschool and we are looking to employ a dynamic, inspirational educator to join our team.

The successful candidate will:
• Have a relevant teaching degree (B.Ed. with ECD specialisation) with a SACE registration number
• Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience teaching Grade R or Grade 00
• Have a valid First Aid training certificate
• Have high levels of energy and a genuine passion for nurturing and educating young children in an innovative way
• Display an in-depth understanding of the unique needs of this age group
• Show commitment to the effective running of the daily programme
• Maintain standards of excellence
• Be able to work collaboratively within a team
• Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
• Have good written and verbal skills
• Be computer literate and confident in the use of technology
• Be creative and self-motivated and be able to work under pressure
• Be willing to work after hours and attend School meetings and functions, when required
• Uphold the ethos, values and visions of the School
• Appreciate working in a values-driven, Christian environment
• Be willing to apply for clearance with the Child Protection Act and Sexual Offenses Register.

 Grade 1 Teacher – 1 May 2021

The school seeks to employ a dynamic and professional person in the position of Grade 1 teacher who will report directly to the Junior School Head.

The successful candidate will:
• Require an appropriate degree or diploma with relevant Foundation Phase teaching experience
• Have in-depth knowledge regarding Foundation Phase and the teaching of Grade 1
• Be registered with SACE
• Have excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and organisational skills
• Be creative, self-motivated and a team player
• Be proficient in computer skills
• Be able to work under pressure, plan and meet deadlines
• Be committed to the extra-mural programme of the school
• Be willing to work after hours and attend school meetings and functions when required
• Be willing to attend and support Staff Development
