FOUNDED IN 1902, ST ANDREW’S IS A TOP INDEPENDENT, GIRLS-ONLY DAY AND BOARDING SCHOOL AND CO-EDUCATIONAL PRESCHOOL.

JUNIOR SCHOOL Community Partnership

Community is a core value at St Andrew’s and embracing local and global communities forms a critical part in the development of our girls. Community connections are developed through various avenues.

Our four house charities have had a long-standing association with The South African Guide Dogs, The Highveld Horse Care Unit, The Maria Kloppers Home for Babies, Letsha Primary school in Daveyton and Trees for Africa. During the course of the year, our girls raise funds for their selected charities through a variety of house activities. Personal connections are important to us and at the end of each year our Grade 4 – 7 girls visit their various charities to experience first-hand the joy of giving back to others.

We have recently connected with a soup kitchen in Observatory and once a week our girls participate in a sandwich drive. Our girls arrive early in the morning to prepare and package sandwiches for the soup kitchen.

As a Junior School we believe in building both internal and external connections with our community. Our fourth school, uBambiswano, makes use of the Junior School facilities on a Saturday morning and we are delighted to be able to share our resources with both the teachers and pupils from uBambiswano.

As an Eco- School we support various environmental projects such as Rhino Shout Out Day and World Wetland Day. As a school we acknowledge the importance of community and are always willing to assist with current community projects. Most recently, we have assisted with collections for the 900 flamingos rescued from the Kamfersdam in Kimberley and with collections for the flood victims in Mozambique.
