JUNIOR SCHOOL Art and Culture
We offer a rich arts and culture programme in which learners are exposed to a full range of spoken, musical and creative arts that enable them to experience the joy of artistic expression, and strike a healthy balance between academic and sporting activities. There is enormous scientific research which has been done all over the world to prove that learning music improves and enhances cognitive and social skills.
Our girls are able to enjoy a modern Music Centre with djembes for each girl in the class and marimbas for each girl to learn basic skills. We have an abundance of various music instruments for all girls to learn during class time. In the Junior School each girl is given the chance to learn basic skills on the violin, flute, recorder, marimbas and djembes.
In addition to weekly class music sessions, they are encouraged to take part in at least one cultural activity every term and may choose to join the choir, orchestra, school band or marimba band.
An annual music competition incorporates both individual and house items, while learners are given an opportunity to perform at music assemblies and informal concerts.
A diverse array of clubs has been established to enable them to participate in activities ranging from public-speaking and drama to photography, pottery, and arts and crafts.
