CONGRATULATIONS

Oneida Cooper
- As a member of the Youth Olympic team Oneida took part in the Mare Nostrum Swimming Series in Europe where she swam season’s best times in all her races and 2 personal best times.
- At the recent CGA Awards Oneida was awarded for her excellent performances.
- At the Bishop Bavin Awards Ceremony Oneida won the top Junior National Swimmer for the season.
- At the CGA Senior Shortcourse Competition Oneida won #gold medals, 3 silver medals and 2 bronze medals.

SAMANTHA WOOD
Samantha’s transplant was successful!!! Her body has accepted and started duplicating the donor marrow sooner than expected.
Martine asked me to extend her gratitude for all your prayers, thoughts and support over the past two years.
Samantha Wood Fundraiser
Samantha has to remain in hospital indefinitely, so we have organized a fundraiser to help her mother with the costs.
The netball girls will be selling a leather vanity case which includes 30 products. The products include 5 make-up brushes/lip pencil/sharpener/false eyelashes/6 lipgloss tubes/nail polish/12 eyeshadow colours/mascara/eyeliner and a plumping lipstick.
The set can be viewed in my classroom (Room 3 – Simmonds Block). These sets sell for R700 at many of the top retail outlets, but we will be selling them at R350 each. BUT THAT’S NOT ALL! If you purchase one of these sets, you will automatically be entered into a draw for a complete make-over valued at R2500 from Gary Rom’s salon in Melrose Arch.
All the profits will go to the Samantha Wood Trust Fund.
If you would like to purchase a vanity set, please send the money in a sealed envelope, to Sandy White in the Junior School.

CULTURAL AUCTION
The Culture Auction from this Friday (6 August) has been postponed until Spring Expo on the 18 September.
We thank you most sincerely for all your help in advertising the auction and apologise for any inconvenience caused. We extend a very special thank you to Ann Wright for organizing the design of the poster, tickets etc.
We look forward to having a bumper auction at the Spring Expo!

UBAMBISWANO CYCLE CHALLENGE - 20th ANNIVERSARY FUNDRAISING INITIATIVE
Ubambiswano invites you, your family and friends to participate in this fun event which will be held on August 14th. The Cycle Challenge is a day out for the whole family - an opportunity to celebrate, as a school and community, this milestone in our history while promoting health and wellness for the whole family.
We are proud of what has been achieved and the difference it has made. This event aims to promote an awareness of the work we do and to raise funds that will enable us to deliver on our objectives, to continue to make a significant impact and difference amongst those whom we serve.
Whether you choose to ride, run or walk we value your support and look forward to seeing you there!

PRAYER GROUP
Parents Prayer Group held in the Drawing Room every Thursday from 7:00-08:30. All welcome at any time.
SECONDHAND UNIFORM SHOP
Limited winter uniform stock is now available from the 2nd hand uniform shop. For the shop to have adequate stock, we need the support of the parents, by either donating old or outgrown clothes, or by requesting a refund on such clothing. If a refund is required, the clothes need to be of a certain standard for resale. Please note, all clothing for resale must be laundered and intact. Clothing that cannot be resold, will be donated to charity. There are bins in Mrs. De Kock’s office and in the Foundation Centre in which unwanted school clothing can be deposited. If you require a refund, please contact Claudia Aitken on 0724246166, to make the necessary arrangements. The shop is located in the Foundation Centre and will e open on Wednesdays from 13:30 - 15:00.
