The Eco Club involves senior primary girls, Grade 4 to 7, who meet every Thursday afternoon. The girls discover fun ways to get involved and protect the environment. Along the way, it helps them understand how the earth works.
Amongst other things the girls have made biodiversity posters and they have planted seeds in the butterfly garden. They have also been able to collect a wide selection of seeds that are available in the school ground. A variety of insects was discussed and each girl chose a favourite which was painted on a stone for the butterfly garden. During the weeks that lie ahead, we are expecting a visit from a pet tarantula and we will be making pine cone bird feeders to supplement the diet of our garden birds during these cold winter weeks, when food is scarce.
