Improving the quality of education in our country is a key pillar in our development. Our unique South African context presents some daunting challenges which undermine learner performance. Addressing the critical needs of community and country is a priority. Ubambiswano understands the experiences, needs and aspirations of our learners.
It is Ubambiswano’s belief that a high standard of education is essential for the development of the full potential of every individual. As a result we are committed to playing an active and meaningful role in transforming society and to making a meaningful contribution to education by addressing some of the critical needs of learners and teachers in the areas of Daveyton and Etwatwa.
The Daveyton Educational Programme (DEP) is a Saturday school for Grade 6 to Grade 9 learners. The learners who benefit from this programme, enjoy new and stimulating experiences, including sports and cultural activities. Our learners’ literacy, numeracy and general educational skills are enriched and improved over a period of four years on the programme, leaving them better prepared for the demands of education and society.
We value the opportunity to engage collaboratively and in partnership with Ekufundzeni. This initiative includes the Mobile Library which provides teachers and learners access to reading material on loan. In addition, the introduction of the Reading Gogos programme has been successful in stimulating an interest in reading and in developing reading skills among Foundation Phase learners. The Teacher Mentoring programme focuses on skills training and teacher development.
Ubambiswano has evolved since 1990 with many accomplishments and achievements to celebrate. The fulfilment of our vision and delivery on proposed objectives will ensure that we continue to make a significant impact. We understand our responsibility in nation building and working together for a common purpose
